ELV is End of Life Vehicle.

As every product has its life of services same is with vehicle. After plying for number of years on roads it becomes ELV.

Government with consultation with various stake holders decides the age of ELV

It is considered 15 years as of now.

It includes all category of vehicles.

Category of vehicles are L,M,N,O.

Mopeds and motorbikes, as well as all-terrain vehicles (quads) and other small vehicles with 3 or 4 wheels.

Motor vehicles with at least four wheels designed and constructed for the carriage of passengers.

Trailers (including semi-trailers)

They are divided in 2 categories. (1) L category and (2) L,M,N and O category.

Only Licenced “Authorised Vehicle Scrap Faclitiy” is authorized to process the ELV.

No. It is required to scrap at designated AVSF

All category vehicles from L, M,N,O needs to be scrapped only and only at AVSF.

There is only single company CERO (A Mahindra Accelo and MSTC enterprise)

Almost 2.20 Crores by year 2025

Any Individual, partnership, Pvt.Ltd., Company can apply for AVSF.

India will need 1000s of such AVSF to process huge quantity of ELV in future.

It is very huge. More than 2 crore by 2025 are going to be ELV.

Yes. It is profitable. Profits can be improved with proper working style.

Requirement for AVSF is very huge and govt. Govt.have simplified the process for small enterprises, considering their share & importance in recycling business.

There is good Profit margins depending on process and planning.

There are certain documents to be done 1) for owner of ELV, (2) for submission to govt.agencies

Selling of usable spare parts, Scrapping of steel, aluminum, copper, plastic parts etc

No, No AVSF or no one can sell ELV. All ELV’s are destroyed and fully recycled and should not go back on the road.

Value of the ELV is decided on parts with ELV. Like tyre (with wheel) , battery, converter, rectifier, engine, seat, chasis etc. More the parts better the rate. Less the parts, lesser will be the rate.

You have to take full details of the vehicle at the time of booking. Infact in few cases do inspection as well. This will enable you to allocate the correct value for ELV.

ELV contain flammable gases, mists, or vapours or combustible dust. This directive refers to the equipment and protective systems intended for use in explosive atmospheres. For example “ATEX”. ATEX is short for Atmospheres Explosibles and is a set of EU Regulations designed to ensure the safety of products used in an explosive environment.
